April 13 Inspiration

St. Augustine once said, “He who sings, prays twice.”

Some occasions are so spectacular, so overwhelming, so beyond words, that only music will do. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of those moments. The sheer magnitude of the victory that bursts forth on that first Easter morning is hard to comprehend. The power of sin and death overthrown. Grace and love reign victorious. Words simply don’t do it justice.

Music comes a bit closer to expressing the joy and glory of Jesus’ resurrection. As a case in point: Handel wrote the Hallelujah Chorus, not as a Christmas anthem, but for Easter.

With that in mind, I want to share with you two wonderful pieces of Easter music that capture, if only in some small measure, the joy and power of Easter. I invite you to listen to them and to allow both the words and the music to fill you with resurrection joy.
