Used by God, Part 3

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:12

From the Desk of Dawn Parr, Children’s Ministry Director

How many of you have been challenged with wearing a mask? Not because of the emotional stress that has led our country to covering our faces, rather have actual physical challenges. I do. I have an eye condition where my sight is compromised due to vitreous detachment, with no cure.

It is especially difficult in conversation. When we speak, we not only use our ears, but our eyes. Because of my eyesight, I must listen more intently than others and watch mouths as they speak to understand the dialogue. Covering faces has not helped and I have noticed my hearing has been compromised with the loss of watching others speak. So, if you see me in public, do not be surprised if I say, “What?” to you most of the time!

In our final lesson on being ‘Used by God’, we will learn about Paul’s reference to the church as a body with many parts. In 1 Corinthians 12-27, he describes each part is equally important within the church body. We must work together in spreading the Gospel message.

Paul continued to tell the people in Corinth that if one part of the body suffers, every part suffers with it and if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Seek out where God is leading you.
  • Are you weakening the body of Christ by not using the gifts He has given you for His glory?
  • Is the lack of your gift compromising the use of another’s gift in the Church?

We are all important to Him, and each one of our gifts are necessary for His use.

Don’t mask what God has given you.

Celebrate your God-given gifts working together as His children for the salvation of all.
