August 12 Inspiration
From the Desk of Dawn Parr, Children’s Ministry Director
A few years ago, my husband and had a trip planned to Jamaica. It was January and mother nature decided to dump eight-inches of snow and a half-inch of ice the morning of our flight. When we arrived at the airport, the clouds were heavy as snow continued to fall. We sat on our plane for two hours before takeoff so the plane could be de-iced, twice! As the plane taxied down the runway, I looked out the window to nothing but darkness. It was a bumpy start, but the pilot knew the way and soon we broke out of the clouds to a brilliant blue sky—and endless sunshine. The transition from darkness to light was breathtaking!
Our lives are full of transitions.
Some are easy, such as preparing for the changing seasons. Other transitions feel as though we are amid a storm. Liberty Church will be transitioning as we say goodbye to Pastors John and Becky Hart. We celebrate with them in their retirement! It is our goal to not let their departure create an unexpected storm. Instead of darkness blocking our viewpoint with clouds of uncertainty, let us remember the True Pilot. Our Lord Jesus knows the way through every transition.
Don’t lose direction. Do not feel overwhelmed.
God has already given us His Way in Jesus. Paul reminds us, “Jesus is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” –Hebrews 13:8 What reassurance, that in each transition of our lives, the Bible remains the same.
It is our plumb line and roadmap for life.
God Himself claims His eternal deity in stating, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, who is, who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” –Revelation 1:8 We might have a bumpy ride on this flight called life, but thanks be to God that He is our Pilot—leading us into the Light!
