June 30 Inspiration

From the Desk of Vickie Doyle, Parish Visitor

Yet, I still dare to hope when I remember this:
The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
Lamentations 3:21-23 (NLT)

For some unknown reason, I have been waking earlier than usual. So, I rise, fill my cup of coffee, and then go sit out on my back porch. It is amazing to see how the dawn paints such awe-inspiring brushstrokes of color upon color across the changing sky.

There, in the beauty of the sky, I see the breath of God, the giver of life who sustains me even now. It is a moment that I store away in my heart. In such moments, I find that I don’t need to say words to pray because words simply get in the way of this silent communication with God.

Recently, I noticed at sunrise that there were dark clouds with sun behind them. The sun made the clouds appear edged in lace. It seemed like a message from God saying, “I know that right now your world seems very dark, but remember that I am still God, I am faithful, and I will refresh you each new day.”

Dear God,
As I see your creation coming to life each morning, may it be a perpetual reminder that you are here…in faithful and bright watchfulness.
Amen.
