From the Desk of Dawn Parr, Children’s Ministry Director
Last summer, Liberty Children’s ministry taught a Sunday school series on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. I crafted a tree out of butcher paper and taped it to a wall in the Carriage House. Each Sunday the tree gained a new piece of fruit that represented one of the nine attributes of the Holy Spirit.
One of the best lessons was on the fruit of goodness and the fruit associated with goodness was blueberries.
How can one small, colorful fruit pack so much goodness?
Blueberries full of antioxidants that stop free radicals in our body. This fruit is full of many vitamins that are good for our brains, hearts and bones! They are GOOD for us!
The fruit of goodness comes when we allow the Holy Spirit to live inside of us.
God is good. It is a key part of who He is to us! His goodness is displayed in so many ways. When we take in the Spirit of Goodness, He will nudge us toward a life free from sin. His goodness is like a super vitamin and as we come to know God more and more, we become stronger in our faith. Goodness becomes part of who we are. With the Spirit living inside of us, we can overflow with goodness to others!
Take in the goodness of God!
As the Bible tells us, “Give thanks to the Lord for he is good! His love endures forever.”Psalm 107:1
