Opportunities To Serve

God has blessed each one of us with different gifts and abilities.

In I Peter 4:10, we are instructed to: “…serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received”.

Liberty Barn Church believes we are called to carry Christ’s love and compassion to a broken and hurting world. We seek to do this through the support of and active participation in missions at Liberty—as well as locally, regionally, and globally.

Liberty commits 10% of all offerings to our Missions budget and offers many different ways you can serve both the congregation and the community. We encourage you to join our group of volunteers in hopes that you will find a perfect fit for your personality and God-given gifts. Please contact us for more information.

PICKLE JAR MINISTRY

The “Pickle Jar” has been a ministry of compassion at Liberty for many years. The Purpose Statement of the Pickle Jar Ministry is:

A confidential ministry for Members and Friends of Liberty Barn Church and within our local community of Delaware County, which provides financial assistance for those in immediate and critical need.

The Pickle Jar has helped people in the following ways:

  • Assisting with rent and mortgage payments
  • Assisting with heating bills

There are several “pickle jars” mounted on the walls in the Barn Sanctuary, the Barn Entrance Area, and the Barn Lower Level. Every Sunday, we encourage people to take advantage of the Pickle Jars as they pass by them on their way out, that God’s generosity might be expressed through their generosity.

If you would like to contribute directly to the Pickle Jar Ministry, please:

  • Make your check to “Liberty Presbyterian Church”
  • Write on the memo line “Pickle Jar”
  • Place in Sunday offering basket or mail to:
    Liberty Presbyterian Church
    Attn: Financial Administrator (Pickle Jar)
    7080 Olentangy River Road
    Delaware, OH 43015

If you would like financial assistance and live in Delaware County, please call 740-548-6075.

Contact the Church Office for confidential assistance.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY MISSIONS

Each year, as we prepare for Thanksgiving and Christmas, Liberty offers many ways to reach out to those in need in our community. For more information about any of these opportunities, please contact the Church Office.

Thanksgiving Boxes

Each year, Liberty helps provide a Thanksgiving Dinner for hundreds of local families in need.

On various Sundays in October/November, boxes are available for pickup. You then purchase the listed items and return the filled box to the church.

Typically on the first two Sundays in November, volunteers accept full boxes both before and after both services upstairs in the Sanctuary.

Liberty mission dollars provide the turkeys for these families. Be a conduit of God’s extraordinary grace by providing one of several hundred boxed dinners this holiday season.

 Adopt-a-Family

Each year, Liberty has the opportunity to provide gifts to local families/individuals in need.

Each family has a suggested shopping list, and you can pick up one item—or shop for the whole family. We also encourage Liberty families to work together to adopt a family in need.

During our annual signup timeframe, you can select a family for whom you can provide the gift of Christmas in our Adopt-a-Family program by completing the online form (available seasonally). Note: You can also sign up in person on Sundays in the Barn Lower Level throughout November.

Christmas Toy Drive

Liberty’s Family Ministry is excited to announce that we will be hosting a toy drive to support Common Ground Free Store’s annual Christmas event for local families in need. This event, known as Miracle on William Street, is held in early December.

The event allows parents to shop for their children, while their children visit with Santa, have a photo taken, and make crafts. During last year’s event, this organization provided nearly 3,000 toys and gifts to our neighbors in need.

Each year, throughout the month of November, we collect new, unwrapped toys for kids of all ages. Look for the oversized boxes placed on both levels of the Barn and labeled accordingly.
