Stock Donation Instructions:
A gift of appreciated securities is an excellent way to meet your stewardship pledge and maximize the tax deduction for which you are entitled.

The process is very easy.

Simply follow these three steps:

  1. Determine the number of shares of stock that you would like to donate to Liberty Presbyterian Church.
  2. Instruct your broker to transfer the stock to Liberty Presbyterian Church’s account:
    Fidelity Investments
    DTC Number 0226
    For the account of
    Liberty Presbyterian Church
    Account Number Z67-526878
  3. Please contact Dana Meeker, Liberty’s Financial Administrator, with the details of the transfer (or call 740-548-6075, ext. 306). Let Dana know that the transfer has been initiated so the shares can be sold as soon as possible after receipt. Also, please specify that this stock is being given towards your stewardship pledge. If you have any questions, please contact Dana directly.

If you are 70-and-a-half-years-old and you have an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), you are subject to the “required minimum distribution”.

If you contribute some or all of the required minimum distribution directly to a charity (like Liberty Church), it will not count as taxable income. (“Directly” means having the funds transferred directly to Liberty without them going through your bank account).

While this type of donation does not count as taxable income, it cannot also be claimed as a tax deduction.

An example of the benefit:

  • Assume you have a 25% tax rate.
  • If you decided to give $6,000 in any calendar year and paid it by check (all at once or periodically), you would need to withdraw $8,000 from your IRA to donate $6,000 to Liberty (the other $2,000 for taxes).
  • However, if you transferred $6,000 directly from your IRA to Liberty in a calendar year (all at once or periodically), you can meet part of your “required minimum distribution” and use the extra $2,000 for other purposes.
The maximum limit on this kind of giving is $100,000 per calendar year.

Please always consult your financial advisor in making your charitable gift decisions.

Legacy gifts are charitable gifts for a future purpose.

These gifts come from anyone with a generous spirit — young and old, men and women, families, couples, and singles. You may consider making a legacy gift to Liberty in one of the following ways:

  • Remember Liberty in your will or trust.
  • Name Liberty as a beneficiary of your life insurance, IRA, or retirement plan.
  • We recommend discussing all legacy giving with your own legal, financial or tax advisor.

For more information, see our brochure entitled Leave a Legacy at Liberty, or contact Dana Meeker, Financial Administrator at 740-548-6075 ext. 306.

If you shop at Kroger, you can support the church simply through linking your Kroger Card to Liberty. Each month, a percentage of your Kroger purchases are contributed back to Liberty’s General Fund at no additional cost to you.

New members can enroll by searching for either the new number or the name of our church. If your Kroger Plus card is already linked to Liberty, this is just a reminder to check your account online to verify that Liberty Church is still listed as your preferred Community Rewards recipient.

Our Endowment Fund policy states that five percent (5%) of the Endowment’s year-end balance is to be used to finance “special projects, equipment, or activities” beyond the church’s operating budget. It also states: “Officers, staff, and members may submit suggestions for uses of the annual Endowment disbursement“.

The 2023 disbursement from the Endowment Fund is $22,670. With consideration of the current fiscal climate, all Endowment projects are on hold until further notice.

The most recent financial statement to review is March 2024.
