Funerals at Liberty
A funeral at Liberty Presbyterian Church is worship of the living God. The funeral is God’s way of bringing comfort to the hearts of those who mourn as Scripture is read and preached, prayer is offered, praises are sung, grief is expressed, remembrance is cherished, and faith affirmed. The presence of family and friends around at this time supports and strengthens those who grieve. The funeral gives thanks for the life of the one who has passed away and thanks to the God who holds our beloved in His everlasting arms.

His loved ones are very precious to Him…. ~ Psalm 116:15
And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am, you may be also. ~ John 14:3
Liberty’s Memorial Pathway
The Pathway to the Son was created in order to provide a tranquil space for prayer, meditation, remembrance, and spending time with God in nature. It features a limestone path running through flower beds and light woods, toward a small fountain and reflecting pond. Families and friends of Liberty Church are welcome to have their ashes or the ashes of their loved ones interred beneath the rustic stones that pave the memorial pathway. The person’s name and year of birth and death can be engraved on the stone, and a small service can be conducted at the time of interment, either in conjunction with a memorial service or at a time more convenient for family and friends.
By interring ashes of loved ones at the Pathway to the Son, families are provided a space that is both naturally beautiful and appropriately suited for remembering deceased loved ones. Stones may also be purchased to memorialize a loved one without interring ashes. Unfortunately, no engraving is permanent on these outside stones. Whether interring ashes, memorializing on a stone, or simply walking the path, Liberty members and friends are provided opportunity to experience the blessing of God’s good creation.
The purchase of a memorial stone in the Pathway to the Son entitles the licensee to perpetual use. Liberty Presbyterian retains property rights and assumes the responsibility of perpetual care of the Pathway and the surrounding garden. In order to purchase a memorial stone, you must complete and provide to the Church an Agreement for the Purchase of a Memorial Stone and a Demographic Record. You will also need to sign and return a copy of the Rules and Regulations Governing the Pathway to the Son. Along with the forms, please include a check in the amount of $2,200 made payable to Liberty Presbyterian Church. The check will be held until all forms have been approved in writing by the church’s Pathway to the Son committee.
